 IN SPEAK AVIATION ENGLISH

The diploma in Speak Aviation English is available as 1 complete course split into 2 progressive parts, Basic and Advanced.

On completion of the 12 modules that make up the Basic and Advanced Course, you will have to pass a comprehensive test in Spoken English. This will be conducted live on the telephone by one of the Academy of Communication’s accredited examiners in the UK. If you successfully demonstrate your command of Spoken English to the required level, you will receive the Full Diploma of Proficiency in Spoken English from the Academy of Communication.

Aviation English Basic Course to certification level

This 6-module course is designed for all those wishing to achieve competence in the kind of spoken English demanded by the world’s major airlines.

You may have already been an unsuccessful candidate for a cabin crew position.  Perhaps you feel that you were let down by your spoken English. On the other hand, you may be one of thousands of hopefuls making their first application for this highly desirable role in the world of aviation. Either way, this basic course is especially designed to ensure that you master English pronunciation, with particular emphasis on the key words and phrases currently in use in your desired role as cabin crew.

This is the first of two easy to follow courses, delivered in a no-nonsense, non-academic fashion by one of Britain’s leading voice and speech specialists, Valentine Palmer. The downloadable training material is supported by audio and video programme tutorials that ensure you complete the course with a good and useful command of spoken English.

Speak Aviation English. Basic Course Content

  1. Getting to know your voice. How are you using it?
    How should you use it? Breath and articulation.
  2. The English voice. What is it? How to simulate it
    by use of Primary and Secondary Sound
  3. Difficult sounds and how to master them.
    The Aviation Phonetic Alphabet.
  4. Use of English words and phrases. Some key
    aviation phrases
  5. An introduction to cabin crew vocabulary.
  6. Carrying on a conversation with crew and passengers.

You may have reached a stage of what you consider to be the required level of competency in Speak Aviation English for you to secure a cabin crew position with a major airline. However, there may be certain nuances of the English language that, unbeknown to you, are still not within your grasp. These subtleties, when involving crucial aviation words and phrases, may not yet be within your capability. Therefore it is strongly recommended that you consider moving on from success at the Basic Spoken English level to the final step in attaining your diploma.

Aviation Spoken English. Advanced Course Content

  1. Broadening your range of both everyday and aviation
    Vocabulary.
  2. Intonation, tune and rhythm. Standard Received Pronunciation.
  3. Handling of particular linguistic difficulties.
  4. Practicing standard and emergency cabin crew announcements.
  5. Understanding the way other countries pronounce basic English phrases.
  6. Command of the essential use of phonetics in emergency situations.
